August Readathon TBR
Updated: Aug 9, 2020
I am a moderator of The Procrastinators Book Club over on Goodreads and this month I'm going to be handling and participating in our August Readathon. I wanted to make a blog post to announce my participation and in case any of you lovely stars want to join us :)
The Readathon is going to last the whole week (August 8-14) and the goal is to read 7 books in 7 days. For this challenge, I'm sticking to shorter books and mostly going to be reading them as audiobooks except for a few exceptions.
Here's my TBR that isn't exactly final since I am a mood reader but hopefully I get through them:
┈ The Toll (Arc of a Scythe, #3) by Neal Shusterman ┈
This is actually going to be my back-up book since I am going to be buddy reading this with some Emily and Bopeep. I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish this one during the week, thus, it's my back-up. This is also 1 out of the 2 books I'm not going to be reading on audio for this readathon.
The Toll is the last installment in the Arc of a Scythe series and one that I am so invested in. Thunderhead ended in a cliffhanger again and I am just so excited to jump back in the Scythedom.
┈ I'm Not Dying With You Tonight by Kimberly Jones ┈
I'm probably not going to be able to read this book by the end of the Readathon because my hold on Libby still hasn't arrived yet but I still paced this here since it was one of my original choices. I'm still gonna read this when it does arrive though.
I was so intrigued by the blurb !! All I know is that in this world chaos has broken out and these two girls are stuck with each other if they want to survive. There's supposed to be some good representation from what I've heard and it is written by a POC which are books that I have actively been trying to read more of.
┈ The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg ┈
The Kingdom is set in this amusement part I think that have these androids that look real human beings. I first found this when right after I read and loved Daughter of a Burning City with it's carnival themes so I was immediately attracted to this book. AND LOOK AT THAT COVER, so stunning!
I'm looking forward to some ethical topics and a thought-provoking prose with this one so it's safe to say that I have high expectations.
┈ The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson ┈
I started this in the middle of my reading slump so I never finished it but this time I am gonna be restarting it and gonna try the audiobook.
While being humorous it also wrote an approach that I never really applied to myself in dealing with life in general. This is a self-help book that my friend recommended to me and I enjoyed the first 20% that I've read before.
┈ Turtles All the Way Down by John Green ┈
Me? Reading a John Green Book?
Never thought I would find myself wanting to read a John Green book but I've heard so many good reviews about this one that I want to know my own opinions about it.
┈ Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson ┈
A mystery story in an academy-type setting?
Just my cup of tea.
I kinda started this some time ago but I don't remember a single detail so I'm restarting once again. I've heard so many good things about this series even though it leaves a lot of questions unanswered in the first book.
┈ The Poet X by Elizabath Acevedo ┈
The only other book I am not reading on audio is gonna be The Poet X since it's written in verse and I just felt like reading some text. Although, I listened to a sample of the audiobook and Elizavath Acevedo's voice is so pleasant to the ears as she narrates her own audiobooks as well.
┈ Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys ┈
This was a recommendation I got from JessetheReader a long time ago that I never got around too. I saw the audiobook was available on my Libby and thought this was the perfect chance to get around to it.
All I remember was that it's about some people who were... lost at sea?
I don't remember the synopsis that well but I'm still so intrigued to read it.
Thank you so much for reading! Are you participating in any Readathons this August? Are you going to be joining The Procrastinators Book Club?
Are there any books you've read or are on your TBR list? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
