➪ Things To Know

▹ I have been in the community for 10+ years and also an ARC reviewer and bookstagrammer.

▹ I can be brutally honest

▹ I am in the target audience of both Young Adult and New Adult

▹ My Beta Reads include:

(1) real-time reactions and comments on the manuscript

(2) Including chapter overview 

▹ I add comments whenever I think they are necessary, includes: my real-time reactions to plot, dialogue, descriptions, writing style, characters, and anything else you want me to look out for.

▹ I accept manuscripts/works preferably in google docs format 

▹ General points that I focus on (unless you say that you only want me to focus on certain aspects):

• Readability: does the story drag? Are there info-dumps anywhere? Cliche or cringey?

• Flow: Do scenes flow smoothly and logically? Downtime between intense scenes?

• World-Building: Can I see every action scene while reading? Does it suck me in?

• Dialogue: Does it sound realistic for the characters? Can I imagine them while talking?

• Characters: Is there a development? Did it focus on the main characters? Are actions logical and realistic? Characters I hate and love, and why. Is there diversity?

• Extras: Were words and actions overused?

▹ I am fairly more specific and on the lookout for things that I like and don't work for me when beta reading.

▹ As a Beta Reader, I focus on how the text is received in general.

▹ I DO NOT focus on grammar or spelling mistakes. BUT, I will tell you if something translates weirdly to me as a reader.

▹ Please understand that I can only accept a few betas at a time and I prefer to only focus on 1-2 at a time so that I can give the best feedback. There might be times when you might need to wait for some time for me to get started on your request.

▹ I try to do my best, as well as to be as quick and as efficient as possible but I am also a post grad student. 

▹ For copyright purposes, I DO NOT share manuscripts sent to me without the author's permission.
